• About Jesus

He showcased Himself through the beautiful creation that He fashioned all around us. This landscape shouts out to us night and day that He exists eternally and has great power (Psalm 19; Romans 1).

God chose to speak through prophets from time to time (Hebrews 1:1). He would give His message to the prophets, and they in turn would communicate it to His people.

Then, God went a step farther. Through His Spirit He moved men of God to write down His message (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). Over 40 different authors heard this message in three different languages and on three different continents. God’s Word took on written form.

But God purposed to go even farther in His communication to us. He decided to come here Himself. God took on human flesh (John 1:14) and became a man. God and man in one being: Jesus. God came here not just to be crystal clear in His message to us. He came because we had a big problem.

It all started in the Garden of Eden when Adam disobeyed God (Genesis 3). As the representative for the human race, he sinned; and when he did, we all sinned with him (Romans 5:12). That sin, in which all of us were born, separated us from God. It also earned us the wages of physical and spiritual death (Romans 6:23) and hell (Revelation 20:11-15).

But the Father loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus to pay that penalty for us on the cross so that our sins might be wiped away and we might inherit eternal life (John 3:16). This salvation is available to all who believe in Jesus and receive Him as their Savior (John 1:12). Someday soon this same Jesus is going to come back to take all believers in Him up to heaven to live with Him (John 14; 1 Thessalonians 4). We will worship Him there (Revelation 5) and eventually inhabit a new heaven and new earth where we will experience perfect fellowship with God as we give Him glory and enjoy Him, just as we were created to do.

This story is the gospel message and it centers on the person of Jesus Christ. In the divine economy of God, He has elevated the name of Jesus to the highest place. There is no greater name and no one more deserving of honor and glory (Philippians 2:9-11).

Therefore, it is our mission at Uniontown Bible Church to be a holy people of the holy God glorifying Him by imaging and proclaiming Jesus. We are about one thing here: Jesus. One verse from the Bible describes our purpose best: “For from him (Jesus) and through him (Jesus) and to him (Jesus) are all things. To him (Jesus) be glory forever! Amen.”
